As recently covered elsewhere in our blog, there is currently a major dearth of adult changing tables across public spaces in the United States, creating an insurmountable barrier to full participation in everyday life for people with disabilities and their caregivers. Imagine visiting an art museum or going to cheer on your favorite sports team, but not having access to a restroom for your entire trip. You'd think twice about even going out, right?
Sova is on a mission to lower the barriers of accessibility so that ALL people can enjoy public spaces. We are pleased to have recently partnered with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) to expand accessibility through the installation of an Ascent® Universal Changing Table and Aura baby changing stations. This project marks a meaningful step forward in inclusive public design—ensuring visitors of all ages and abilities have access to essential caregiving amenities.

Sova’s Donation to the ALPLM
Unveiled in March 2026, the museum now features one Ascent Universal Changing Station for guests with disabilities alongside five Aura baby changing stations for families with infants.
The addition of the Ascent adult changing table provides individuals with disabilities and their caregivers a safe, spacious, and dignified place for personal care—addressing a critical and often overlooked need in public spaces. Including an adult changing station is a vital step in creating truly inclusive environments, ensuring that all visitors feel welcomed, supported, and able to fully participate in the museum experience.
Complementing this, five Sova Aura baby changing tables have been installed in restrooms throughout the museum, including restrooms for men, women, and families. This ensures equitable access and added convenience for all caregivers, creating a more inclusive and welcoming experience for all.

Bringing Inclusive Care to a National Institution
These new installations reflect a growing commitment to creating environments that prioritize dignity, comfort, and equal access. As one of the nation’s leading cultural institutions, ALPLM continues to set a strong example for how public spaces can better serve diverse communities.
“At the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, we believe in the principle of ‘Abe for All’ – that everyone should be able take part in learning about Lincoln and celebrating his contributions to America,” said ALPLM Executive Director Christina Shutt.
“A changing table for adults helps make that possible by removing a roadblock for people with disabilities. We thank The Sova Company for helping us serve more people with this generous donation.”
This initiative reinforces the museum’s commitment to welcoming all guests and sets a powerful example for how public spaces can evolve to better serve their communities.
The installation at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum reflects a broader shift toward designing public spaces that truly serve everyone. By prioritizing inclusive amenities like universal and baby changing stations, facilities can remove barriers and create environments where all visitors feel respected, supported, and able to fully participate.
“Sova is proud to partner with an institution that reflects the highest ideals of access, inclusion, and public service,” said Joseph A. Lawlor, CEO of Sova. “The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum represents values that resonate across the country, and we’re honored to support its commitment to creating a welcoming, dignified experience for every visitor.”
